Committees

The Downtown Issaquah Association is a volunteer led organization who’s mission is to cultivate a thriving Olde Town that builds community and celebrates our charm. If you are interested in becoming part of this downtown Issaquah effort, consider joining one of our four committees. These volunteers are the heart of Downtown Issaquah Association and each committee supports the mission. Meetings are open to the general public. Each committee meets once a month on the second Monday in 2023.

This group organizes and promotes constructive relationships between local government, property owners, retail business owners, civic and social organizations, residents, visitors, schools and all those that take active interest in the preservation and economic vitality of downtown Issaquah. This committee requires active involvement with stakeholders and funding sources.

Volunteers in this group are wanted to build a commercial district that responds to the needs of today’s consumers while maintaining the community’s historic character. Committee members will accomplish this by evaluating how to retain and expand successful businesses to provide a balanced commercial mix, sharpening the competitiveness and merchandising skills of business owners, and attracting new businesses that the market can support.

Promotion takes many forms, but the goal of this group is to create a positive image that will renew our community pride and tell our story to the surrounding region. The marketing committee aims to communicate our commercial district’s unique characteristics, its cultural traditions, architecture, and history and activities to shoppers, investors, potential business and property owners, and visitors. Events include WineWalks, ArtWalk, historic pub-crawls, and more.

This group works to provide a clean, inviting and safe district that capitalizes on our historic features. This committee will assist in city beautification projects; participate in the planning and development of public interest projects; and recommend appropriate uses and design standards for the downtown area in accordance with local government ordinances.
