Get Involved with the Downtown Issaquah Association

Volunteers are crucial to meeting our mission. These programs and events are made possible with the diligent support of our valued volunteers. We can’t do it without you!

Special Events

Volunteers are needed to help throughout the year. Individuals can also chair or serve on teams to assist with day of event production for Fenders on Front Street, ArtWalk & Music Stroll, and Issaquah Make Music Day. Please see contact information at the bottom of page to inquire about chairing on any of these committees.

Day of Event Volunteers are designated for the following events. Click on each link for more detailed information and sign-up dates/times.

2023 dates: Friday, May 5, Friday, July 21 & Saturday, October 28, 2023 6pm – 9pm.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers, over 21, for 1-3 hour shifts. Enjoy great music, wine and experience the festive atmosphere of Downtown Issaquah before or after your shift.

4:30- 6:00 Set up/Check In
6:00- 7:30 Check in, wine Store & Door monitors
7:30- 9:00 Check in, wine Store & Door monitors
9:00- 10:00 Tear down and clean Up

April 22nd, August 19, November 11

Annual citywide “Keep Issaquah Beautiful Day.” Individuals, groups and families are encouraged to spend a couple of hours making a difference in the community. If you can pick up litter, push a broom, swing a shovel or plant some flowers WE NEED YOU! There are jobs for all ages and abilities and flexible schedules to get the work done. We encourage downtown businesses in historic downtown to do their own clean-up of sidewalks, flower boxes and more.

A Father’s Day tradition exhibiting vintage cars. Thousands of visitors stroll down Front Street to inspect the classic automobiles. It’s a fun-filled day with live music, family activities, and a trophy and award ceremony.

Join the fun at the annual Fenders on Front Street classic car show.

Make Music Day is celebrated every June 21 & Dec 21st in over 700 cities and 120 countries when musicians take to the streets, sidewalks, and parks to play.

The ArtWalk & Music Stroll transforms the historic downtown businesses into artists’ galleries for the night. This lively, festive event features the Historically Hip Artisan Market, with a variety of artistic styles, immersive art projects, live music all over downtown. Volunteer positions vary and work in 1.5 hour shifts. ArtWalk & Music Stroll runs 5-8PM, but volunteers are needed as early as 4:30PM.

October 28, 2023
This is an event you don’t want to miss! Halloween zombies of all ages congregate annually for the Downtown Zombie Walk and flash-mob dance to Michael Jackson’s, THRILLER! Few volunteers needed so sign up quick.

Runs 1PM- 5:30PM.

Gas Station Blues features talented blues artists every Thursday night from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Historic Shell Station located at 232 Front Street North. In addition to incredible blues music, food and beverage will be available for purchase. Guest are welcome to bring Take-Out from local restaurants. We need volunteer support for set up, ID check, security check and tear down. It’s a community favorite and very well attended.

Ongoing Volunteers

Our MVP will need to be tech-savvy, self-motivated, and attentive to deadlines. This particular volunteer will be responsible over updating our monthly newsletter, will also help manage the website, and all social media.

Photographers and Videographers are especially wanted at our special event days! We’d love your artistic expression during our programming to document the happenings. Must have your own camera.

Individuals who help promote Downtown Issaquah Association events by passing out fliers and posters around town to local shops and restaurants.

Volunteers are also needed to engage in long-running programs, to oversee creative projects such as Flowers on Front, trash-pickup & street light banners.

Teens

If you’re a teen, 16 years or older, looking for an opportunity to volunteer, these exciting openings await your energy and enthusiasm.

Use us for your next high school assignment. Come photograph or video a special event DIA event or spotlight a local merchant and their cool offerings. We welcome Jr. Photographers/Videographers for their fresh insight and innovative skills. If you have the talent, why not share it!

Leave an impact on your community by coming in to help during the Seasonal Clean Up Days (2022: April 23, July 23, October 22, or on a day you choose. During this day, we invite you, your friends and family to clean our streets and surfaces. It’s one of our most special and proudest days, why not be a part of it too?!

Committees

Are you an individual interested in keeping Issaquah Historically Hip? Have ideas that would restore the city’s integrity? Come on board one of our four Main Street Committees. These volunteers are the heart of Downtown Issaquah Association. The committees support the mission to promote agency success with an ultimate goal to sustain the economic vitality of Historic Downtown Issaquah. Members meet once a month within their respective committees.
