Big Hearts ❤️ Give Big
This year, in response to the unprecedented need in our communities, the Downtown Issaquah Association (DIA) has pulled out all the creative steps to raise money and plan safety-first programming to help its downtown businesses. Donations to DIA have resulted in a spirited downtown with streets lined with flower baskets, interactive online fun engagement, and the Streatery outdoor dining that thwarted COVID risks and brought visitors from all over.
For the holidays, DIA is spreading the cheer by opening “Pop-Up” retail shops in empty buildings to give local artists an outlet to sell their creations; commissioning artists to paint whimsical and cheery windows in storefronts; and safely open its annual Holiday Shop in the Historic Shell Building. DIA is also providing equipment necessary to “weatherize” restaurants for outdoor seating.
The Downtown Issaquah Association alone doesn’t keep the businesses buoyant and lights shining during the holidays, the flower baskets adorning downtown in the summer, and pedestrian traffic abundant even in tough times. It’s the volunteers, donors, and the people who live, work, and play in the historic district who make downtown special. As you plan your GivingTuesday contributions, we ask you to remember DIA. Its entire mission is to keep the historic downtown alive, inviting, and vibrant when our businesses need it most. Next year will have its own challenges, but if we work together, it will be a year of celebration for our strong community.
We take our mission to cultivate a thriving Olde Town seriously and with undaunted purpose. With your support, we will bring more pedestrians to Downtown Issaquah retailers, merchants, service providers, and restaurants. We are a community that pulls together, helps others tear down barriers, and succeed against all odds.
• DIA continuously works with Downtown Issaquah businesses by providing them with resources, best practices, and funding opportunities to weather the current crisis.
• Our programs are supporting the preservation of community and heritage to ensure that our small businesses, performing and visual cultural arts, and social gathering places are welcoming and prosperous.
The Downtown Issaquah Association works resolutely to bring hope, economic health, and happiness to our distinctive downtown. Issaquah is unique in many ways: Its history, unparalleled sense of community, and love that keeps long-time residents here, and new families looking to find a place to call home. This year, GivingTuesday to support small. Make a tax-deductible donation to the Downtown Issaquah Association, and help keep us historically hip and special.

This year, with the ravages of the pandemic, Washington Gives has expanded its giving platform from a biannual to a year-round generosity campaign. Washington’s “GiveBig” partners with” GivingTuesday,” an annual global generosity movement, to make it easier for people to provide for their causes. Giving Tuesday on December 1 is designed to help struggling communities raise money and awareness quickly to support next year’s budgets.
Making it All Possible
Downtown Issaquah Association’s special connection with its donors, volunteers and the people who live, work, and play in the community is borne of a special camaraderie seeded in a downtown established more than a century ago. It grows in good times and in bad, and with newcomers who add more diversity to the established. Our Historically Hip Downtown is your town. Thank you for your love and for giving generously. We will never be able to thank you enough.
