What is the Historically Hip Local Author Fair? The Historically Hip Local Author Fair (HHLAF), hosted by the Downtown Issaquah Association (DIA) in partnership with the Issaquah Library, is a one-day, juried event for local book authors to sell their physical books directly to the public. The Fair will be a free community event and open to all ages.

When and where will the fair be held?

Saturday, December 1, 2024
Setup: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Open hours: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Takedown: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Locations: Authors will be assigned a space in the La – Z – Boy Home Furnishings & Decor store located at 628 Front Street N, Issaquah.

Who can apply? We currently seek authors age 18+ who live in these communities: Issaquah, Sammamish, Bellevue, Renton, Snoqualmie, and North Bend. Authors who live in other communities in King County may apply and will be considered if space is available. If a book has multiple authors, the author at the event must live in one of the eligible communities. Youth Authors may be considered by emailing events@downtownissaquah.com

What if I’m an illustrator who wants to sell both my books and my artwork? You may apply to the Historically Hip Artisan Market to sell both books and art. Authors are welcome at the Artisan Market as well.

Will I be able to give a reading or author talk related to my book(s)?  The venue may allow for short author presentations that are suitable for audiences of all ages and do not require A/V equipment. Indicate your interest on the application form and we will provide future details for accepted authors. Please also reach out via email to execdirector@downtownissaquah.com expressing your interest.

When do I need to apply by? The online application must be submitted by midnight October 18, 2024. Authors will be notified by October 22, 2024. Accepted authors must confirm their participation and pay the fee by the deadline specified in the acceptance email. Authors not selected in the initial round can opt into a waiting list to be contacted if space becomes available.
