Make Music Day 2023

Make Music Day is a free community event that celebrates the Summer Solstice and music around the world. As Issaquah celebrates it’s 10th Anniversary of Make Music Day, there will be music stages and interactive elements from 4-8pm set up all around Downtown Issaquah. Plan to stroll around and listen to the music!

Issaquah’s Downtown comes alive with 7 music stages of local performances & musicians of all ages are welcome to try out their musical talents. All ages are welcome to this free event celebration.

“The Water Bird’s Call”: This piece was commissioned just for the IPO String Ensemble and premiered at MMD 2022.  The composer, Emmaline Jackson (formerly Sanders), was the first winner of the IPO’s Young Composer Competition with her work “Four Impressions of the Salish Sea” which was premiered by the IPO in 2019.  “The Water Bird’s Call” is about Issaquah!

A variety of popular 60s and 70s soft rock n roll, a little country, surf music – like The Ventures.

6:30pm Issaquah Singers, sing from 7-8pm

Issaquah Singers, an all-volunteer choir, has shared the joy of music since 1976.  Join us for a concert of colorful songs at 7pm, behind City Hall, next to the playground at Memorial Park.  Warning – the joy of music is contagious!

4pm – 5pm Instrument Petting Zoo: For All Ages, try out a variety of musical instruments.

5:30pm – 6:45pm Pete Reed & the Summer Wine

7pm – 8:30pm Tiger Mountain Drummers

Tiger Mountain Drummers are rhythm-lovin’ people who have come together to drum in Issaquah for over 25 years. We learn Afro-Cuban rhythms-infectious and fun! Led by master drummer, Bob Howell.  Community drummers-welcome to bring your hand-drums and join us for the last half hour. Dancers welcome too.
