Front Street Streatery

June 26, 2020 & June 27, 2020
July 3, 2020 & July 4, 2020
2pm – 10:30pm

Overview

In May 2020, Mayor Pauly appointed a Recovery Task Force to support the City on various issues related to responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the initiatives the Task Force is recommending is to explore creative solutions that help restaurants and other food service based businesses meet physical distancing requirements.

The streatery pilot was developed in a partnership with the Downtown Issaquah Association and City staff. By closing a portion of streets in Downtown Issaquah, we are able to provide downtown restaurants and cafes an additional area to setup tables and chairs and keep our community healthy.

What is a Streatery?

A streatery allows restaurants or cafés to use portions of an adjacent street during operating hours, functioning as additional outdoor seating. Restaurants and cafés will be able to extend their service area on the sidewalk, in the parking lane, and in special cases when a road is closed, like this pilot, onto the vehicle travel lane.

Where will the Streatery Pilot be installed?

The pilot will close down Front St. between Dogwood and Sunset from Fri. 2 p.m.- Sat. 10:30 p.m. Alder Place will be fully closed through the duration of the pilot. A traffic detour will move traffic on NE Dogwood St. to Newport Way NW and W Sunset Way during the hours the Front St. Streatery is operating.

When will the Pilot be conducted?

Starting June 26, the Front Street Streatery will be open from 2 p.m. Fridays to 10:30 p.m. Saturdays. The Front Street Streatery will take place for two weeks, with the potential for extensions through the end of September – or when businesses are allowed to re-open at full capacity – whichever comes first.
