Second to None: Superior Seconds Has the Goods and Goodwill

Community, Sustainability and Giving

Heather Maloney and Geo Tamblyn opened this sporting goods consignment store in 2013 because of their love of sports and community. Three years later, Erin Eaton joined as a business partner.

From Heather: We have appreciated the community support that has surrounded us. As a locally-owned business, we are proud to be involved with our local schools and athletic programs. We love to help people recycle their high quality gear, and feel lucky we get to go to work each day meeting buyers and sellers who are passionate about sporting gear. Our consignment store model offers a generous split in the proceeds of each consignment sale.”

Why Erin Became Partner: I really loved the store. I have kids and know how expensive it is to participate in sports. We are very conscious of sustainably reusing gear. It is not only economical, it’s the right thing to do. Our kids play baseball, basketball and soccer. We ski, mountain bike, and have coached Little League. Being a community resource and offering families quality and affordable options is so rewarding. And our customers keep coming back!

“So grateful for the gear and great help I received from Superior Seconds. As a beginner who wants to get out in the mountains, they kindly guided me in the process of finding the right gear and provided help learning how to use it all. Many thanks folks!! I’ve been out 7 of the 10 days since completing the setup!”

“Best sporting goods consignment shop in Seattle area! I used to live in Kirkland and drove out to Issaquah just for this place.”

“My family has used the whole variety of services available at Superior Seconds – bike and ski maintenance, gear rental, consignment selling, and used equipment purchases. Each time we are helped by very knowledgeable and friendly staff and the transactions are smooth and simple. The local ownership and reduced waste are the icing and decoration on a very delicious cake.
