David Waggoner instructed Scouts BSA during the annual flag replacement ceremony on Earth Day.
David Waggoner is known for his volunteerism After all, he was just named to The City of Issaquah’s Hall of Fame. He is equally respected for the service as a veteran from the Vietnam era. He is a humble, influential member of the VFW.

Scouts show respect as they fold the flags for burning.
The ceremonial flag burning is 16 years, 6400 flags strong.
“It is emotional and humbling”, he said. Dozens of young men and women Scouts participated. Under David’s patient instruction, they burned the flags down to the grommets. “It’s the most respectful way to dispose of worn flags”, he said.
The ceremony drew them from morning until late afternoon, despite the rain. Equal parts solemn and cheerful, the Scouts ranged in age from 7 to 17. The veterans surrounding them said they are proud of the next generation of patriots.
